Kings Of Leon almost stopped playing

Kings of Leon say they've come to terms with the pop success of their hit "Sex on Fire."  But it wasn't always that way.

Frontman Caleb Followill tells "Shortlist" that a few years ago they actually considered scratching the song from their concerts entirely, explaining that it used to drive them crazy to see that some people were coming to their shows just to hear that one song.  But now Caleb considers the reaction they get when playing that song a "pat on the back" for creating something that so many people like.  Plus, drummer Nathan Followill says it's fun to watch concertgoers rush back from the bathroom when "Sex on Fire" starts, and then make a beeline for the exits when it's over.  He says that if people really want to fork over all that money for a single song, it's fine by him.

Kings of Leon will have more new music to add to their live sets thanks to their upcoming sixth album Mechanical Bull, which is due out September 24th.  They're scheduled to take the stage Wednesday for an appearance at the iTunes Festival in London, followed by a set at the Global Citizen Festival in New York on September 28th.
